Documentation first, then the ester
Food Emulsifiers in this catalogue are the same ester families used in personal care and industry — glyceryl, sorbitan, propylene glycol, butyl esters, selected polysorbates and polyglycerol esters — released against a tighter purity and documentation brief. An industrial TDS is not a food-adjacent pack. Name the permitted additive function (emulsifier, stabiliser, anti-staling, anti-caking) and any assay, acid-value, heavy-metal or residual-solvent tests the receiving laboratory will run before a sample ships.
Dyna Glycols will not treat a textile scour or an agro emulsifier as a food emulsifier. Halal, Kosher and ISO certificates sit on the company certificates page; they do not replace a named chemical identity on the purchase order. Write glyceryl monostearate, sorbitan monostearate or polyglycerol polyricinoleate, not a bakery warehouse nickname.
Glyceryl and glycol esters
Glyceryl Esters cover glycerol monostearate as emulsifier, thickener and anti-caking aid; glycerol tristearate in cake systems; glycerol monolaurate in ice-cream-adjacent use; mono/dioleates for candy, cookie and bread structure and beverage stability; and mono/tripalmitate types. Monoester content drives emulsifying power. A distilled high-mono grade is not interchangeable with a mixed mono/di of the same melting point. Melt uniformly; local overheating darkens glycerides and raises acid value.
Glycol Esters of propylene glycol (monostearate, monolaurate, monooleate) are used as dough conditioners, ice-cream emulsifiers and essential-oil stabilisers. They are not ethylene glycol distearate pearlising waxes. Butyl esters of fatty acids appear as oiling and emulsifying aids. Keep acid value, saponification value and melting range on the TDS.
Sorbitan esters, polysorbates and polyglycerol
Sorbitan Esters — monostearate, monooleate, monolaurate, monopalmitate — are lipophilic emulsifiers and stabilisers in baked goods, milk powders and dietary-adjacent systems. The matching hydrophilic partners are Polysorbates of the same fatty acid (for example polysorbate 20, 65, 80 types). Ordering both from one plant keeps the acid cut aligned. Polysorbates contain polyoxyethylene; if the brief is PEG-free, they are the wrong family.
Polyglycerol and polyglycerol polyricinoleate (PGPR, E476) types, plus polyglycerol stearate, cover chocolate-adjacent viscosity reduction and PEG-free emulsification. They are not drop-in copies of a polysorbate. Hydrogenated castor oil ethoxylates listed for dry-soup work and fatty alcohol ethoxylates used as food-industry emulsifiers must be flagged as ethoxylates on the first enquiry so documentation matches the chemistry.
How to specify
Name the food or food-adjacent process (bakery, ice cream, chocolate, beverage, powdered mix), the fat phase, required HLB or a current ester, mono versus di ratio, and the purity tests. Lactylates such as sodium stearoyl lactylate are listed as emulsifier-humectants for baked goods and related systems — say if that is the intent so a glyceryl ester is not offered by default. Once a trial is approved, freeze acid value, SAP, melting range and the document set so later lots match the evaluation.
Specification checklist
Put the application, the substrate, temperature, pH and any APEO or formaldehyde limit on the first enquiry. INCI or chemical names, cloud point, hydroxyl value, saponification value and colour are the numbers Dyna Glycols can lock on a TDS for this Food topic. A warehouse nickname is not a specification.
Samples and documents
Request a laboratory sample of the related Food grade together with the current SDS and TDS. The certificate of analysis is issued for the shipping lot after manufacture at Kandla SEZ. Once the trial is approved, freeze the identity tests so later drums of this chemistry match the article you evaluated.
