What perfumery esters are

This page lists aroma esters Dyna Glycols manufactures from named alcohols and acids: phenylethyl acetate, propionate and butyrate; benzyl propionate; octyl salicylate; ethylene glycol diacetate; isoamyl acetate, propionate and butyrate. They are released against assay, acid value, colour and odour as written on the TDS.

These are chemical intermediates for fragrance and flavour compounding. They are not finished fine-fragrance oils and are not an IFRA certificate. Sensory and regulatory status for a compound belongs to the compounding house. Specify assay and residual-acid limits rather than a perfume name.

How Dyna Glycols manufactures perfumery esters

Esterification is run on the same ester plant used for fatty esters, then finished to a tighter odour and colour window when the enquiry is perfumery. Custom carbon cuts and mixed esters are quoted when a catalogue point is close but not exact.

Octyl salicylate is also used as a UV-filter solvent in some suncare briefs. Say whether the duty is aroma or suncare so residual-solvent and odour windows match.

Where perfumery esters are used

Fragrance compounds use these esters as fruity, floral or solvent notes depending on the alcohol/acid pair. Flavour-adjacent compounding uses selected isoamyl and phenylethyl esters where the brief allows — that documentation path must be named; an industrial aroma-ester lot is not automatically a food flavour pack.

How to specify perfumery esters

Send the ester name, assay minimum, acid value, colour, odour, water and any residual-alcohol or residual-acid tests the receiving lab will run. State fragrance vs flavour vs suncare.

If matching a competitor aroma ester, attach GC assay and the odour note the compounder cares about.

Quality, documents and supply

Lots are released against assay, acid value, colour and appearance. SDS and COA follow verification. Odour must be confirmed by the compounder on the actual concentrate.

Isoamyl acetate is not a substitute for phenylethyl acetate. Order by the named ester.
