Dyna Glycols manufactures intermediates and surfactants used in cement grinding, concrete and gypsum: triethanolamine, alkyl phenol and alcohol alkoxylates, amine accelerators, naphthalene-sulfonate and alkoxylate defoamers or plasticiser feedstocks, methyl PEG, polyethylene glycols and alkyl ether sulphates.
What construction chemicals are
Dyna Glycols manufactures intermediates and surfactants used in cement grinding, concrete and gypsum: triethanolamine, alkyl phenol and alcohol alkoxylates, amine accelerators, naphthalene-sulfonate and alkoxylate defoamers or plasticiser feedstocks, methyl PEG, polyethylene glycols and alkyl ether sulphates. These are chemical building blocks for grinding aids, plasticisers, foaming agents and board wetting — not finished admixture packs unless a named blend is agreed.
A grinding-aid intermediate, a concrete plasticiser feedstock and a gypsum foamer are different duties. Write the industry (cement, ready-mix, precast, gypsum board) and the failure you see: mill residue, air, set time or board wetting.
How Dyna Glycols manufactures construction chemicals
TEA 85% and 98% is finished as an organic amine for grinding-aid salts. Tetrahydroxyethyl ethylene diamine and diethanol isopropanol amine are listed as concrete-hardening accelerators. Alkoxylates and naphthalene sulfonates are released against the identity tests on those chemistry pages. Methyl PEG is supplied as a superplasticiser intermediate, not as a finished PCE polymer unless that polymer is separately specified.
Alkyl ether sulphates are foaming anionics for lightweight concrete and foam systems. Alcohol ethoxylates for gypsum are released against cloud point and wetting.
Typical grades in this range
Choose the industry first. Typical catalogue points are listed below.
- Cement: triethanolamine for grinding-aid salts (set and freeze-thaw related use as described on the TDS)
- Concrete: alkyl phenol ethoxylates as mortar plasticisers; alcohol alkoxylates with low pour point; tetrahydroxyethyl ethylene diamine and diethanol isopropanol amine as accelerators; alkoxylate, naphthalene sulfonate and formaldehyde-condensate types as defoamers and superplasticiser feedstocks; methyl PEG glycols as superplasticiser intermediates; polyethylene glycols as lubricants and surface-finish additives; alkyl ether sulphates as foamers
- Gypsum: alcohol ethoxylates for board wetting and foam-agent intermediates; methyl PEG esters / polycarboxylate-ether intermediates as water reducers; acrylic/methacrylic esters of fatty alcohols and ethoxylates as water-reducer intermediates
Where construction chemicals are used
Cement mills use TEA salts as grinding aids. Concrete uses plasticisers and accelerators to move slump and early strength; foamers and defoamers to move air. Gypsum board uses wetters and foam intermediates so the slurry wets the liner and holds a stable foam.
Formaldehyde-condensate plasticiser chemistry remains listed where specified. Several markets prefer PCE based on methyl PEG. They are not interchangeable on a weight-for-weight basis.
How to specify construction chemicals
Name cement vs concrete vs gypsum, the role (grinding aid, plasticiser, accelerator, foamer, defoamer, water reducer), APEO policy, and the identity tests (amine assay, cloud point, active, hydroxyl). Share mill temperature, slump test or board line speed.
If the need is a finished admixture rather than an intermediate, say so. Dyna Glycols samples the chemical named on the TDS, not an unlisted formulated pack.
Quality, documents and supply
Lots are released against the certificate tests on the TDS. SDS and COA follow verification. Set time, air and slump must be checked in the customer cement or gypsum, not only in a bottle foam test.
Store amines closed and dry. Follow the SDS for TEA and ether sulphates. Protect ethoxylates from frost.
Practical notes on construction chemicals
TEA is an intermediate for grinding-aid salts. A neat TEA drum is not a ready grinding aid. Confirm the salt and dose with the mill chemist.
APEO alkyl phenol ethoxylates remain available as economical mortar plasticisers. Alcohol alkoxylates are the APEO-free path. Run a paired slump and air trial.
Related pages: ethoxylates, alkoxylates, sulphates and sulfonates, polyethylene glycols. Request a sample with the cement or gypsum and the APEO rule.
Methyl PEG as a PCE intermediate is not a finished superplasticiser. Do not order it as a drop-in for a commercial PCE.
Alkyl ether sulphate foamers need the active and salt stated. Overdose raises air and weakens the matrix.
English is the source language for amine-assay and APEO claims.
Ordering and evaluating construction chemicals
Dyna Glycols supports construction chemicals with laboratory samples, current SDS, TDS and COA from the Kandla SEZ manufacturing network. Tell us the intended application, the substrate, the required moles or molecular weight, and any limits on colour, odour, cloud point, hydroxyl value, pH or residual feedstock. A matching catalogue grade of construction chemicals in the Construction Chemicals family can then be confirmed, or a custom batch can be planned on the ethoxylation, esterification or related plant.
When you evaluate construction chemicals, send the competitor grade if one exists, the bath or emulsion conditions, and the tests your receiving laboratory will run. Pack options for construction chemicals typically include drums, IBCs and bulk where the viscosity and melting point of the selected grade allow safe handling from the Construction Chemicals manufacturing line.
A first order of construction chemicals is easier when the purchase specification lists identity tests, not only a local trade name. Hydroxyl value, saponification value, acid value, cloud point, pH, water, colour and appearance are the numbers the Kandla QA laboratory can lock. If your QC uses a different solvent or a different cloud-point electrolyte for construction chemicals, write that method on the order so the COA speaks the same language.
Custom lots of construction chemicals are quoted after the hydrophobe or acid/alcohol pair, the target analytical window, the annual volume and the pack. Pilot batches are available when a catalogue point in the Construction Chemicals range is close but not exact. Once a trial lot is approved, that TDS should be frozen so the tenth delivery of construction chemicals matches the first approved drum.
Storage of construction chemicals should follow the SDS: keep containers closed, protect hygroscopic grades from moisture, and warm high-melt or high-mole grades until uniform before sampling. FIFO rotation protects colour and odour. If a drum of construction chemicals has frozen or separated in transit, homogenise it before charging a batch; do not decant only the liquid layer.
Application advice for construction chemicals is given against the process you describe, not as a universal recipe. Share machine type, temperature, pH, electrolytes, fibre or hide type, and any ban on APEO, formaldehyde or food-contact lists. Dyna Glycols can then sample construction chemicals alone or as a pair with a sister grade from the same Construction Chemicals family so compatibility is checked in one evaluation.
Documentation for construction chemicals is issued after a short verification of the company and the exact grade name. SDS covers handling; TDS covers typical properties; COA covers the shipping lot. If a customer audit needs extra tests on construction chemicals (for example residual feedstock, peroxide, formaldehyde or a pharmacopoeia-style identity), list those tests at the enquiry stage so they are built into release rather than added after dispatch.
