A mill step, not a wash recipe
Sugar Chemicals are process aids around microbial control, scale on evaporators and pans, and colour in juice or liquor. They are not textile scours, not agro emulsifiers, and not a generic “sugar surfactant”. The catalogue heading lists three duties: carbamate-based biocides, de-scaling agents and de-colouring agents. Write which duty and which station (mill water, evaporation, pan, molasses) on the first enquiry so the laboratory does not send a fatty alcohol ethoxylate.

Carbamate biocides
Named actives include sodium dimethyl dithiocarbamate (SDMDC, typically around 40% active), potassium dimethyl dithiocarbamate (KDMDC, around 40%) and ethylene bis-dithiocarbamate (nabam-type, around 40%). They are not interchangeable. Sodium versus potassium changes handling and solubility; the ethylene-bis structure is a different molecule. Share mill-water pH, temperature and the spoil symptom (slime, odour, algal growth).
These grades overlap the paper-mill slime brief and some agro biocide packs. A sugar SDS is not automatically a paper SDS. Name the industry so documents and dose advice match the use. Laboratory evaluation belongs in mill water or juice, not in a detergent foam test.
De-scaling and de-colouring
Evaporators and pans foul with calcium and organic scale. De-scaling agents are specified by the deposit, the metal (steel, brass), whether the clean is in-place or boil-out, and whether the liquor can be diverted. They are not the same as an oilfield imidazoline scale preventive, though both fight mineral deposit. De-colouring agents act on juice or liquor colour bodies; they are not a bleach for cotton. Residual biocide in the same circuit can interfere — say what is already dosed.
Viscosity and molasses handling sometimes attract a request for a “surfactant”. That is still a process-aid brief. Share Brix, temperature and whether the need is foam knock-down, wetting of scale, or colour.
How to specify
Name the station, the duty (biocide, de-scale, de-colour), the current chemistry if any, active-matter target and packaging. For carbamates, name SDMDC, KDMDC or nabam-type. Freeze active matter and identity tests once a trial lot is approved. Dyna Glycols issues SDS, TDS and lot COA against that named article.
Specification checklist
Put the application, the substrate, temperature, pH and any APEO or formaldehyde limit on the first enquiry. Samples and documents
Request a laboratory sample of the related Sugar grade together with the current SDS and TDS. The certificate of analysis is issued for the shipping lot after manufacture at Kandla SEZ. Once the trial is approved, freeze the identity tests so later drums of this chemistry match the article you evaluated.
