What personal care chemicals are

Dyna Glycols manufactures the surfactant and ester families used in rinse-off and leave-on personal care: glycol and glyceryl esters, fatty acid/alcohol esters, alkyl benzoates, alkanolamides, hydrogenated castor ethoxylates, fatty alcohol ethoxylates, polysorbates, PEG and glyceryl PEG esters, EO/PO copolymers, emulsifying waxes, triethanolamine and selected polyquats and amino-ethanol intermediates. Grades are released against SAP, hydroxyl, acid value, cloud point, free amine or pH as written on the child chemistry TDS.

An industrial ester or ethoxylate TDS is not automatically a cosmetic pack. Name INCI, residual limits (1,4-dioxane, free amine, residual EO) and whether the product is rinse-off or leave-on. Dyna Glycols will not invent a COSMOS, FDA or EU Cosmetic Regulation listing for a lot. English is the source language for those claims.

How Dyna Glycols manufactures personal care chemicals

Esterification and ethoxylation sit on the Kandla plants used for the chemistry families. Pearlising glycol esters, emulsifying waxes and alkyl benzoates (synthetic C12-15 and natural-alcohol grades) are finished to melt, colour and odour windows agreed for personal care. Custom moles, monoester content and PEG MW are manufactured when a catalogue point is close but not exact.

Where personal care chemicals are used

Shampoo, bath gel and liquid soap use glycol esters as pearlising waxes, alkanolamides or betaines as foam boosters, and ether sulphates from the sulphate page as primary foamers where the brief allows. Creams and lotions use glyceryl or glycol esters plus a PEG ester or polysorbate, or a PEG-free polyglycerol path.

Suncare and colour cosmetics use alkyl benzoates as light emollients and UV-filter solvents. Hair care uses selected amides as antistats and polyquats as conditioning intermediates. TEA balances pH in shave and skin products — residual amine policy belongs on the enquiry.

How to specify personal care chemicals

Send INCI or chemical name, rinse-off vs leave-on, SAP/hydroxyl or moles, melt, colour, odour, free amine or dioxane limits, and the oil phase. State whether DEA is allowed.

For alkyl benzoate say synthetic C12-15 vs natural C12-14. They are similar emollients, not assumed analytical copies — run a paired skin-feel trial.

Quality, documents and supply

Lots are released against the identity tests on the chemistry TDS. SDS and COA follow verification. Sensory, pearl and viscosity must be checked in the customer base.

Store waxy esters dry. Melt uniformly before charging. Protect ethoxylates from frost. Follow the SDS.

PEG esters and hydrogenated castor ethoxylates can carry residual 1,4-dioxane. If a ppm limit applies, write it on the first enquiry so it is built into release.

EO/PO copolymers in toilet-care acid thickeners are a different duty from a skin cream emulsifier. Order by duty.

Emulsifying wax is a blend, not a single ester. Freeze the anionic vs non-ionic type.

When you evaluate personal care chemicals, send the competitor grade if one exists, the bath or emulsion conditions, and the tests your receiving laboratory will run. A first order of personal care chemicals is easier when the purchase specification lists identity tests, not only a local trade name. Hydroxyl value, saponification value, acid value, cloud point, pH, water, colour and appearance are the numbers the Kandla QA laboratory can lock. If your QC uses a different solvent or a different cloud-point electrolyte for personal care chemicals, write that method on the order so the COA speaks the same language.

Custom lots of personal care chemicals are quoted after the hydrophobe or acid/alcohol pair, the target analytical window, the annual volume and the pack.
