Binders first
Finishing - Binders are aqueous polyacrylate dispersions. Very soft low-tack, medium-soft, and fine-particle impregnation grades are not interchangeable. They may be blended with polyurethane dispersions for adhesion and wet rub. The season still needs pigment, modifiers and a top. Specify article, full grain versus corrected, and tack limits.
Lacquers and wax
Lacquers in this range are nitrocellulose systems: a water-dilutable emulsion top and a solvent lacquer that can be let down with water or NC thinner. The emulsion is the usual choice for water-borne shops that iron at elevated temperature. The solvent lacquer is chosen for high gloss and when solvent dye solutions shade the top. Compare dry film weight when switching; solids are not the same.
Wax Emulsion grades such as a soft synthetic wax emulsion modify slip, fill and plate. Too much wax hurts rub and adhesion. Wax will not hide an empty belly — that is a retan and fatliquor problem. Trial plate temperature and wet rub on the actual acrylic season.
Specification checklist
Put the application, the substrate, temperature, pH and any APEO or formaldehyde limit on the first enquiry. INCI or chemical names, cloud point, hydroxyl value, saponification value and colour are the numbers Dyna Glycols can lock on a TDS for this Leather topic. Samples and documents
Request a laboratory sample of the related Leather grade together with the current SDS and TDS. The certificate of analysis is issued for the shipping lot after manufacture at Kandla SEZ. Once the trial is approved, freeze the identity tests so later drums of this chemistry match the article you evaluated.
