Coatings and adhesives
Paints and Coating Chemicals and Adhesive Chemicals both use ethoxylates and ether sulphates in emulsion polymerisation, plus non-ionic wetters for pigments and low-foam EO/PO grades as defoamers or wetting agents. Alkyl phenol ethoxylates remain in some polymerisation recipes; alcohol ethoxylates are the APEO-free path. Phosphated ethoxylates appear as anionic polymerisation surfactants. State monomer system, particle-size target and whether APEO is allowed.
Dispersants may be fatty alcohol or alkyl phenol ethoxylates, naphthalene sulfonates, or acrylic polymers. Vegetable-oil anti-settling agents are a different duty from a wetting surfactant. Organic neutralizing agents such as triethanolamine sit next to the surfactant package, not instead of it.
Paper and construction
Paper Chemicals use wetters, de-inkers, defoamers and dispersants. De-inking often historically used alkyl phenol ethoxylates; many mills now specify alcohol ethoxylates. Share pH, temperature and whether the process is flotation or wash de-inking.
Construction Chemicals need wetting, emulsification of oils or polymers, and sometimes low-foam EO/PO copolymers in cementitious or coating systems. Electrolyte and high pH are the usual constraints — sulfosuccinate wetters and ether sulphates should be checked for hydrolysis in that window.
Specification checklist
Put the application, the substrate, temperature, pH and any APEO or formaldehyde limit on the first enquiry. A warehouse nickname is not a specification.
Samples and documents
Request a laboratory sample of the related Coatings grade together with the current SDS and TDS. The certificate of analysis is issued for the shipping lot after manufacture at Kandla SEZ. Once the trial is approved, freeze the identity tests so later drums of this chemistry match the article you evaluated.
