Oil ethoxylates
Oil Ethoxylates are made on triglycerides such as castor, hydrogenated castor, coconut, soya, rapeseed or tall oil. Castor grades around 32–40 EO moles are classic solubilisers for fragrance and some actives. Hydrogenated castor ethoxylates are paler and more oxidatively stable. Coconut and soya grades often appear in agro and industrial emulsifiable oils. Do not assume a soya ethoxylate of the same moles will match a castor solubiliser: ricinoleic chemistry is part of the performance.
Fatty acid ethoxylates
Fatty Acid Ethoxylates are ester-linked. Oleic, stearic and coconut acid grades are the usual catalogue points. They can feel milder in personal care than some alcohol ethoxylates, and they emulsify lipid phases that already contain fatty acids. Because the link is an ester, strong alkali and long storage can hydrolyse them. If the bath is highly alkaline, an alcohol ethoxylate in the same HLB band may be more stable.
Fatty amine ethoxylates
Fatty Amine Ethoxylates carry nitrogen. At low pH they behave as weakly cationic; at neutral to alkaline pH they behave more like non-ionics with extra adhesion to fibre, metal and pigment. Textile levelling, agro adjuvants, asphalt emulsification and corrosion-inhibiting oils use tallow, coco, oleyl, stearyl or lauryl amine ethoxylates for that dual character. They are not a substitute for an alkyl phenol wetter unless substantivity is actually required.
Custom hydrophobes that do not sit in these families are manufactured as Others Ethoxylates. Check the named family pages first; many “specials” are standard moles under a local name.
Specification checklist
Put the application, the substrate, temperature, pH and any APEO or formaldehyde limit on the first enquiry. INCI or chemical names, cloud point, hydroxyl value, saponification value and colour are the numbers Dyna Glycols can lock on a TDS for this Ethoxylates topic. A warehouse nickname is not a specification.
Samples and documents
Request a laboratory sample of the related Ethoxylates grade together with the current SDS and TDS. The certificate of analysis is issued for the shipping lot after manufacture at Kandla SEZ. Once the trial is approved, freeze the identity tests so later drums of this chemistry match the article you evaluated.
