Degrease is soil plus fat, not a generic scour
A degreasing agent emulsifies and lifts natural fat, spinning oil, drawing oil or mineral grease so it can be rinsed. In chemical development the substrate decides the ionic type: sheep and greasy wet-blue are not a steel spray-washer, and neither is a cotton kier. A wetter that opens a hide too fast can draw grain. A solvent-containing degreaser that works in a closed metal washer may be banned in a tannery effluent permit. Those are specification facts, not quality failures of the surfactant.
Leather beam-house degreasing
Crypto-anionic types such as VENDIGRIS WP are used on pelt, wet-blue and East India stock, including sheep. Solvent-free fatty alcohol alkoxylates such as VENDIGRIS EWP are the APEO-free, solvent-free path. Dose on the weight basis given on the product page — fresh hide, salted, pelt or shaved — not on a guess. Hide species (bovine, calf, goat, sheep, fur) belongs on the sample request.
Soak and degrease are consecutive, not the same bath unless the mill runs a compact process. Amphoteric imidazoline wetters such as VENWET A emulsify and disperse in soak; they are not a drop-in for a dedicated degreaser on greasy sheep. Share float, temperature and whether the next step is lime or pickle.
Metal and industrial grease
Metal and Electroplating Chemicals cleaners need wetting in high electrolyte — often 2-ethylhexyl sulphate or low-mole ethoxylates — plus phosphate esters when corrosion inhibition is required. Mid-mole Fatty Alcohol Ethoxylates emulsify drawing oils in I&I hygiene. Alkyl Phenol Ethoxylates remain in some closed-loop industrial recipes; alcohol ethoxylates are the APEO-free path. A jet or spray washer needs a low-foam grade; a soak tank can use more foam.
Textile scouring of spinning oil is a related duty but uses liquor ratio and machine limits from the mill, not a tannery float. Name fibre, oil type and machine so a leather degreaser is not offered into a jet.
How to specify
Name the substrate, the fat or oil, temperature, pH, machine or float, and limits on APEO, solvent and foam. For leather, give hide type and stage. For metal, give the alloy and whether the fluid must also inhibit corrosion. Dyna Glycols will sample a crypto-anionic tannery grade, an APEO-free alkoxylate or an industrial ethoxylate against that brief.
Specification checklist
Put the application, the substrate, temperature, pH and any APEO or formaldehyde limit on the first enquiry. Samples and documents
Request a laboratory sample of the related Degreasing agents grade together with the current SDS and TDS. The certificate of analysis is issued for the shipping lot after manufacture at Kandla SEZ. Once the trial is approved, freeze the identity tests so later drums of this chemistry match the article you evaluated.
