Rheology is flow behaviour, not foam vanity
A rheology modifier changes how a liquid flows under shear: salt-thickened shampoo body, acid-thickened toilet cleaner, pigment-print paste, or anti-settling in a coating. At Dyna Glycols those jobs are done with alkanolamides and betaines, PEG esters, selected EO/PO copolymers and textile printing thickeners — surfactant and polymer tools, not commodity cellulose ethers or fumed silica as a primary catalogue line.
Write the continuous phase (water, solvent, oil), pH, electrolyte, pigment load and the shear the pump or print screen applies. A foam booster that thickens a shower gel will not build a kerosene-free pigment print paste.
Wash thickeners and acid thickeners
Amides such as coco monoethanolamide or diethanolamide build viscosity next to ether sulphates in personal-care and HI&I wash. Cocamidopropyl betaine partners improve mildness and salt response. Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) Esters thicken oil-in-water systems and some lotion chassis. EO/PO grades used as acid thickeners in toilet cleaners need the acid type and concentration on the brief — architecture and molecular weight decide body.
Personal Care Chemicals and detergent briefs should state DEA versus MEA policy. Dyna Glycols will not substitute CAPB for CDEA unless the enquiry asks for that change.
Print pastes and coatings body
Textile printing thickeners and kerosene-substitute systems under Textile Chemicals set paste rheology for pigment and reactive print. Dose by dry content when converting from emulsion thickeners. Paints and Coating Chemicals need anti-settling and flow; dispersants and rheology partners are different articles on the same line. Share PVC, binder type and whether the failure is syneresis, hard settle or spatter.
An anti-settling stabiliser for latex is not a shampoo salt thickener. Keep the industry on the sample form.
How to specify a rheology modifier
Name the formula type, continuous phase, pH, salt or acid level, pigment or oil load, target viscosity method and shear. State APEO and alkanolamide policy. Dyna Glycols will sample an amide, PEG ester, EO/PO thickener or print thickener against that rheology window.
Specification checklist
Put the application, the substrate, temperature, pH and any APEO or formaldehyde limit on the first enquiry. INCI or chemical names, cloud point, hydroxyl value, saponification value and colour are the numbers Dyna Glycols can lock on a TDS for this Rheology modifiers topic. A warehouse nickname is not a specification.
Samples and documents
Request a laboratory sample of the related Rheology modifiers grade together with the current SDS and TDS. The certificate of analysis is issued for the shipping lot after manufacture at Kandla SEZ. Once the trial is approved, freeze the identity tests so later drums of this chemistry match the article you evaluated.
