Cross-linker, not a latex surfactant
Adhesive Chemicals and Paints and Coating Chemicals list propoxylated amines as PU metal-complexing / cross-linking intermediates. That duty is different from the alkyl ether sulphates and ethoxylates used to polymerise a latex. Ordering “a crosslinker” without naming PU versus emulsion polymerisation is how a polymerisation surfactant is offered into a two-pack coat.
Dyna Glycols manufactures these amines on the propoxylation / alkoxylation capability used for Propoxylates and related intermediates. Application performance in the customer PU recipe remains with the formulator.
What to freeze on the TDS
Hydroxyl value, amine value, viscosity, water and appearance are the usual identity tests. PO moles or equivalent weight belong on the enquiry when matching an incumbent. A bottle foam test used for latex surfactants is irrelevant to a PU cross-link intermediate.
TEA (triethanolamine) on the same industry pages is an organic neutraliser and grinding-aid intermediate — not a propoxylated amine cross-linker. Order by chemistry name.
Where these intermediates sit
Two-pack and moisture-cure adjacent PU coats, adhesive topcoats and selected industrial coatings use propoxylated amine intermediates when the brief names metal-complexing cross-linking. Emulsion polymerisation surfactants, dispersants and defoamers for the latex reactor are sampled under those duties instead.
APEO policy still matters when the wider adhesive or coating pack also uses ethoxylates — but it does not redefine the amine intermediate.
How to specify
Name PU versus latex polymerisation, the hydroxyl or amine window, viscosity limit, and whether the grade is a metal-complexing cross-linker. Attach the incumbent TDS if matching. Dyna Glycols will sample a propoxylated amine intermediate against that PU window, not OPS-25 or a fatty alcohol ethoxylate.
Specification checklist
Put the application, the substrate, temperature, pH and any APEO or formaldehyde limit on the first enquiry. INCI or chemical names, cloud point, hydroxyl value, saponification value and colour are the numbers Dyna Glycols can lock on a TDS for this Crosslinkers topic. A warehouse nickname is not a specification.
Samples and documents
Request a laboratory sample of the related Crosslinkers grade together with the current SDS and TDS. The certificate of analysis is issued for the shipping lot after manufacture at Kandla SEZ. Once the trial is approved, freeze the identity tests so later drums of this chemistry match the article you evaluated.
